The gist in 30 seconds
- Ratings were rebuilt: every player now sits between 1 and 9500 MMR. Medals and leaderboard places are preserved.
- The very top moved the most — anyone who had climbed to 15,000–18,000 landed on the shared ceiling.
- The distance between the top and a regular Divine collapsed: catching up is now a matter of a hundred games, not a flawless year.
- The 7.41e balance pass is surgical — no hero or item reworks in this patch.
- The Dota Plus post-game breakdown was reworked: stats are split by category and the match review is more detailed.
- With The International close, Valve ships bug fixes almost daily, cosmetics included.
Meta impact
The main consequence is that the MMR race restarted. With no ceiling in place, thousands of high-medal players simply avoided their main account: a 7,000–8,000 gap could not be closed in practice. Now the top bar is shared and climbing is measured in hundreds of games again. Expect high-rank players back in queue and tighter matchmaking on the upper medals. Umbrella scripts were live 15 minutes after the update went out, so nobody sat idle. If your main took a hit or you want to start the climb from a clean step, take a look at Dota 2 accounts with an open rank.
