Quick summary
- Valve subscription — legal, supports the developers. You get UI perks: win probability graph, build suggestions, hero relics, rewards.
- Umbrella Unlocker — a private software module that unlocks the same interface elements without paying Valve, plus bonuses (e.g. Hidden MMR Tracker — unavailable even to paying subscribers). Included in any plan from $2.99.
- If you are already getting the full software for maphack / scripts — the bypass comes free. If you do not need private features — pay Valve.
What the official subscription gives
- Win probability graph — real-time prediction based on the current match state (gold, XP, barracks).
- Hero Levels — a progression system for each hero (levels 1–30). Unlocks badges and rewards.
- Hero Relics — collectible items with lore quotes (e.g. "100 crit strikes with Phantom Assassin").
- Plus Assistant — item and ability build advisor based on the current draft.
- Death recap — after death shows what killed you (damage breakdown by ability).
- Shard and treasures — weekly rewards for subscribers, accelerated seasonal skin selection.
- Plus Chat Wheel — extended set of phrases and sounds in the chat wheel.
What the bypass module gives
- Win probability graph — the same UI element, the same calculation. See how the chance shifts during rotations.
- Build advisor — recommendations work identically to the official ones.
- Death recap — displayed after each respawn.
- Extended chat wheel — phrases and sounds are available.
- Hidden MMR Tracker ★ — exclusive feature, unavailable even to paying subscribers. Shows your hidden rating and the actual gain per game.
- Full Umbrella arsenal — maphack, scripts for 126 heroes, Skin Changer, Spoofer, and 28 more modules.
What the bypass module does not have: Hero Relics with lore quotes (that is server-side Valve content, physically unavailable without payment), Shard, and seasonal treasures.

Prices and economics
- Official subscription: ~$3.50/month (or ~$18/6 months with ~17% discount).
- Umbrella (minimum): $2.99 for 3 days / $9.99 for 30 days.
If you only want UI perks — paying Valve is more economical long-term (~$3.50 vs $9.99). If you are already planning to buy private software for maphack — the bypass comes as a bonus, saving ~$3.50/month.
Scenario "official features only, no private modules" — better pay the developers. Scenario "everything at once: maphack, scripts, build advisor" — Umbrella is cheaper than any combination of separate apps.
Bypass module safety
This feature is a client-side UI modification that does not interfere with game logic. It is one of the safest modules in Umbrella, but a formal risk remains:
- Bypassing the paywall is technically a violation of the Steam Subscriber Agreement.
- Valve generally cannot distinguish your client from a legitimately paid account in most scenarios (UI is rendered locally).
- Protection via Spoofer + cloud configs — the standard stack.
In practice, HWID bans for bypassing the paywall alone (without other modules) are isolated cases. More details — Do you get banned for cheats.
Which to choose
- If you are an honest player without private software and only want UI perks → pay Valve. Developer support + full legal comfort.
- If you are already planning to get Umbrella for scripts or maphack → the bypass module comes free. Do not pay Valve separately.
- If you only need the Hidden MMR Tracker (Valve does not provide it to anyone) → private software is the only way.
Hidden MMR is the most useful feature for grinders. You see that your real rating is 4250 while the displayed one is 4100 → the next game will give +30 MMR. Without the tracker you would never know.
FAQ
Can you use Dota Plus and the Unlocker at the same time?
Yes. If your Plus subscription is active and you have the Unlocker enabled — there will be no conflict. The Unlocker simply will not add anything beyond what Plus already gives (except the Hidden MMR Tracker).
Does the win probability graph actually work?
Yes. It is server-side Valve data, available through the standard API. The Unlocker simply renders the UI with data that is already being transmitted.
What is Hidden MMR and why does it matter?
Hidden MMR is the matchmaking system's internal rating, which differs from the displayed one. It is used for opponent selection. If your Hidden MMR is 200+ above your displayed MMR — the next games will give +30/+35 per win (instead of the standard +25). This means Valve has overrated you — farm wins while the bonus lasts.
Where does the death recap appear?
After death in a Ranked game, a panel appears showing a damage breakdown by source — which ability or item dealt how much damage. Same feature in the Unlocker.
