Installing Umbrella — 3 minutes to your first game

Preparation

What you need before starting:

• Licensed Dota 2 via Steam — other builds are not supported.
• Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit). Linux and macOS are not supported.
• An active Umbrella subscription — if you don't have one, buy a plan from $2.99. Login/password are sent by email after payment.
• Antivirus disabled during installation — Defender / Kaspersky / Avast block the loader as "potentially unwanted software." You can re-enable it after launch.
• 200 MB free on the system drive.

Step 1. Download the loader

1. Go to the download page.
2. Click "Download loader." The file is called UmbrellaLoader_v3.exe (~12 MB).
3. Save it somewhere convenient — for example, C:\Umbrella\. Do not put it in Program Files — Windows may restrict writing cloud configs there.

Step 2. Bypassing Smart Screen

When you run it, Windows will show "Windows protected your PC." This is standard for any exe without a Microsoft signature. What to do:

1. Click "More info".
2. The "Run anyway" button will appear — click it.
3. The loader will start.

If Smart Screen refuses to open the file at all — go to Windows Security → App & browser control → Reputation-based protection settings → turn off "Check apps and files" during installation.

Antivirus programs (Kaspersky, Avast, AVG) may delete the file. Fix: add the folder C:\Umbrella\ to your antivirus exclusions. More details — in the safety article.

Step 3. Key activation

1. In the Loader window, enter the login and password from the email you received after payment.
2. Click "Login → Activate."
3. The subscription activates. The timer starts from this moment (not from the time of payment).
4. The loader will download the Umbrella core (~80 MB) and inject it into Dota 2 on the next launch.

Step 4. Importing a config (optional)

You can play with the default config, but a ready preset for your role / favorite hero saves 30 minutes of setup:

1. In the Loader, open Cloud → Add By Code.
2. Enter the config code from the CFG page (for example, UMB-INV-2026A for Invoker).
3. The config imports into your account — it will be available on any PC after logging in.

Individual hero pages (for example, Invoker) also have ready-made cfg codes.

Step 5. First game

1. In the Loader, click "Launch Dota 2" — the Loader will start the Steam Dota 2 client with the Umbrella injection.
2. In the Dota 2 main menu, press INS (Insert) — the Umbrella cheat menu will open.
3. Enable the modules you want (recommended for the first game: Maphack, Last-Hit, Dodger).
4. Queue for Ranked. Good luck.

Common errors and solutions

• "Steam not detected" — Steam is closed. Launch Steam → log in → try again.
• "Dota 2 not installed" — the Loader cannot find the game folder. Open Steam → right-click Dota 2 → Properties → Local Files → Browse, copy the path and paste it into Loader → Settings → Custom path.
• "VAC mismatch" / "Cannot trust game files" — in Steam verify the integrity of Dota 2 files (Properties → Local Files → Verify integrity), then restart the Loader.
• INS menu does not open — hotkey conflict. Go to Loader → Settings → Menu hotkey → change it to any other key (for example, HOME).
• Black screen when launching Dota — outdated Vulkan driver. Update your NVIDIA / AMD video driver to the latest version and restart.
• "License expired" — subscription has ended. Buy a new plan or renew through support.

If your error is not in the list — write to support, attach a screenshot of the error and the text from the Loader log (C:\Umbrella\log.txt).
