What the courier is and why its appearance matters
The courier is a flying creature that delivers items from the base. Each team has one. By default it is a standard grey bird; through cosmetics you can set a dragon, fish, gnome or dozens of other appearances. Only the visuals on your screen change — teammates see their own choice, and enemies cannot see your courier at all (it is invisible outside fog of war).
Via Steam inventory (the official route)
- Get a courier set: buy one on the Steam Community Market, receive it from a chest, or get it as a gift from a friend.
- Launch Dota 2 → main menu → Loadout → Courier.
- Select the desired model from the list of available ones → Equip.
- Save — the appearance is activated for the next match.
Marketplace prices: from 5 cents for common models to $20 for immortal variants with flight effects.
Via Umbrella Skin Changer (no payment)
- Launch the Umbrella Loader (download) and log in.
- Open Skin Changer in the cheat menu.
- Courier section → choose any courier from the catalogue (including Immortal and seasonal models).
- Click "Apply" → launch Dota 2.
200+ courier models are available at no cost. An alternative is Overplus (from $0.30) — cosmetics only, without cheat functions.
Tips and nuances
- Flying courier is available from minute 3 for everyone — this is a game mechanic, not a cosmetic.
- Control with the F1 key — send for items; Tab — switch.
- Progress on the courier (e.g. kill count) is tracked locally via Skin Changer and is not saved on the developer's servers.
- Shared courier — each player can set their own appearance independently. Teammates see their own versions.
FAQ
